Dane faces jail sentence

COPENHAGEN, July 11: Denmark and Bolton Wanderers midfielder Stig Tofting faces months behinds bars after being charged with violence following an incident at a restaurant, local media reported on Friday.

The incident happened when the 32-year-old Tofting, who received a suspended sentence for violence in 1999, met his Danish team mates for a post World Cup reunion in central Copenhagen last month.

“If he is found guilty I will demand he is sentenced to months of imprisonment,” the police prosecutor told daily tabloid Ekstra Bladet.—Reuters
