MUZAFFARABAD, July 11: A walk in the AJK capital on Wednesday was held to observe the World Population Day on Thursday.

The walk, led by AJK minister for health and population welfare Haji Yaqoob Khan, started from the district health officer’s office in the old city and culminated at the old civil secretariat, where speakers emphasized the significance of family planning.

The participants of the walk, which included doctors, health workers, children, and NGOs, were carrying banners and placards with slogans supporting small and healthy families.

Speaking on the occasion, the minister called for bringing a change in the people’s attitude in order to control the rapid growth in population. He said if this growth remained unchecked, economic and social systems would collapse.
