Fahim and Saeed share honours

KARACHI, July 10: Defending champion Daily Jang cruised into the quarterfinals of NBP inter-media cricket tournament from group “A” when they beat PTV by 99 runs at PCB academy ground, National Stadium, Wednesday.

Jang made 199-9 in 25 overs with Mohammad Fahim scoring a fine 65 that included seven fours and a six. He was later adjudged Man-of-the-Match.

PTV in response crumbled to 99 in 15.1 overs.

In the first group “D” match Karachi Press Club defeated Associated Press of Pakistan (APP) by 67 runs — thanks to fine bowling by left-arm paceman Saeed Qureshi who snapped up five wickets for 10 runs.

Put to bat first KPC made 168-7 in their 25 overs. Extras with 58 was top scorer including 48 wides. Ehsan Qureshi was pick of APP’s bowling attack taking 3-20 with his off-spin.

APP, in their turn, recovered from 25 for eight to reach 101 for nine — courtesy a 31-run contribution from extras.
