BAHAWALPUR, July 10: District Nazim Tariq Cheema has reportedly given up canvassing for PPP’s potential candidates ahead of preparation of final lists.

Dawn learnt on Wednesday the Nazim held a corner meeting at Muhammadi Colony in this connection.

The Nazim said the district council had approved a sum of Rs170 million for the mega sewerage project. He said a dual carriage-way from Farid Gate to Baghdadul Jadid Railway Station would be constructed.

HOUSING SCHEME: A new housing scheme over 152 acres will be developed at Tibba Badar Shair under the Punjab governor’s directives, DCO Imran Ahmad said.

At a meeting on Wednesday, the DCO directed the officials concerned to vacate the land from illegal occupants.
