SANGHAR, July 9: Farmers of the district have demanded the supply of a fertilizer, ammonium nitrate, which is short in the market for the last two months.
The general-secretary of the Sindh Abadgar Board, Sanghar, Samo Khan Dahri, and Mohammad Moosa Sehto, Faisal Khan Wassan, Abdul Qadir Rajpar and others told Dawn that every year during the mid of the season the National Fertilizer Company stopped dispatching the fertilizer to Nawabshah region and the farmers had to arrange its purchase from other regions to fulfil their requirements which cost them more than the actual price.
Cotton, sugarcane, chilies and other crops are at peak at this stage and require the highest amount of nitrogen for which ammonium nitrate is one of the major sources.
