Mortar bomb found off Seaview beach

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, July 5: A mortar bomb of the US Navy was found near Seaview beach late on Friday night.

Darakhshan police said the mortar bomb had caught fire, emanating thick smoke, when some people noticed the bomb and informed the police. The police reached the spot and took it away with them.

The police said the fire erupted in the mortar due to phosphorus, which was put off immediately. The police said the “US Navy” was inscribed on the mortar, and it could not be ascertained how it landed at the beach near Kinara restaurant.

Panic gripped the area and people ran helter-skelter after they witnessed the bomb.

It was the second mortar found at the beach.
