Mills running in loss to be privatized: minister

By Our Correspondent

DADU, July 5: The Federal Minister for Labour and Overseas Pakistanis, Owais Ahmed Ghani, has said that all the public sector mills running in losses would be privatized.

Addressing councillors, government officials and other people at the Zila Council hall here on Thursday, the minister specifically named two enterprises, Dadu Sugar Mills and Thatta Sugar Mills, intended to be privatized soon.

He told the audience that the government had initiated development work in the remote areas of all the provinces. The areas, he added, had been neglected by the successive governments.

He held out the assurance that the government would hold general elections as per the schedule.

DEMO: A large number of primary school teachers from Dadu taluka staged a demonstration outside the local press club on Friday in protest against the non-payment of their salaries.

They claimed that 400 primary teachers of this taluka have not been paid salaries.

Talking to newsmen, their leaders, Azizullah Laghari, Hanif Lund and Gul Sher Solangi, accused certain officials in the District Accounts Office of demanding 10 per cent commission for the release of salaries.

They appealed to the Zila Nazim to take an appropriate action.

ROBBERY: A gang of four robbers broke into the house of one, Mazan Chandio, in village Mir Muhammad of Khairpur Nathan Shah taluka on Friday and deprived the inmates of cash, gold ornaments and other valuables.

Rukan police have registered an FIR against the accused, Gulzar, Adho, Ghulam Hussain and Shahnawaz.

ACCIDENT: A boy, Sher Ali (8), died after being run over by a Karachi-bound coach (P-4240) on the Indus Highway in Lucky town on Friday.

The Lucky police have impounded the coach and have registered a case.
