KARACHI, July 4: As many as 300 illegal electricity connections have been removed from the staff town of Karachi University.

This was announced by the spokesman of the university on Thursday.

He said this would help save the university Rs1.6 million annually.

The spokesman said as a result of various administrative measures taken by the vice chancellor, Prof Dr Zafar Saeed Saifi, it was expected that there would be a reduction of Rs4.9 million in the electricity bills of the institution which would be now only four million.

He said the amount thus saved would be utilized towards the research and constructive activities at the university.

He also announced that the university had developed a mechanism for the regular recovery of electricity bills from the houses and shops at the staff town as well as from the photostat shops and canteens within the university premises.—APP
