FAISALABAD, June 30: The graduation condition has forced central leaders of all the political parties to award tickets to new faces and associates of old pundits.

Dawn learnt on Sunday Pakistan People’s Party, Pakistan Muslim League (N) and Jamaat-i-Islami had already received a number of applications for national and provincial assemblies’ seats.

While former MNAs and MPAs are in race for getting tickets of their respective parties, non-graduates have little chance to contend in the election. A majority of the applicants of PPP, PML-N and JI are Nazimeen of union councils or their close relatives.

The leaders of Pakistan Muslim League (QA) and Pakistan Awami Tehrik are still silent, although, they have received applications from some “strong” candidates.

It is learnt that the candidates will go canvassing after final announcements. Some of the candidates have been arranging corner meetings and feasts.

Faisalabad has been divided into 11 national and 22 provincial assembly constituencies.
