SARGODHA, June 30: Members of a task force set up by the Faisalabad Electric Supply Company have been involved in power theft it was found on Sunday.

The task force was set up by the executive engineer concerned to check incidents of power theft.

Sources said in a raid on an ice cream factory in Satellite Town using an unauthorized power connection, the sub-divisional officer concerned ran into four task force members Ali Asghar, Muhammad Tariq, Mushtaq and Muhammad Sharif. The SDO learnt that the factory owner, one Saleem Akhtar, had been Rs2,000 per month to the task force men. In the bargain, they were treated to ice cream twice a day.

Sources say thefts from stores and theft of cable from poles has become order of the day. Two transformers and cable connecting more than 30 poles was stolen recently. A Rs2,000 fine was imposed for the loss of about Rs500,000.
