Two injured in Indian shelling

MUZAFFARABAD, June 22: Two boys were injured as Indian troops shelled a Neelum valley town from across the Line of Control on Saturday, an official said.

Deputy Inspector-General of AJK police, Sheikh Tahir Qayyum, told Dawn that unprovoked shelling by Indian troops started at 7.15am and continued until 12.30pm.

After a one-hour pause, they resumed shelling, targeting the town of Athmuqam, some 80km from here.

Mohammad Mushtaq, 18, and Mazhar, 12, (residents of Ban Chattar) village, were injured in Athmuqam bazaar. The shelling also partially damage a hotel owned by one Meharban, and a booking office at the bus station.
