LAHORE, June 14: A former federal additional secretary who joined the PPP on Friday has criticized the government for what he said its wrong policies.

Speaking at a press conference, Kamran Zafar who also held different important posts in the provincial government during his 36-year service, said the list of the government’s follies and blunders was fairly long but the referendum took the cake.

He said the people were now questioning the government’s intentions of holding a free and fair elections and “the general needs to take steps to restore democracy and also people’s confidence”.

He urged the government to establish an independent election commission, open dialogue with political parties, set up a caretaker government and allow political activities in the country.

He opposed the expected changes in the constitution by the government and said only elected representatives could do this.
