KOHAT, June 9: The Kohat police, in different operations in and around the city, arrested 49 proclaimed offenders wanted in murders and highway robberies, and recovered a large number of illegal arms, and a big quantity of ammunition and drugs during the last 24 hours.

Police sources said that a special police team arrested the killer of a dispenser, Mohammad Hayat, after raiding a house in the posh KDA locality. The pistol used in the incident was also recovered.

During an operation clean-up, ordered by SSP Usman Zikria, the teams, headed by ASP Nisar Khan Tanoli, DSPs Wisal Khan and Mian Younis carried out search of various dens and recovered 19 Kalashnikovs, one Kalakov, 47 rifles of different bores, 42 pistols, one sten-gun, 2087 cartridges, 260kg charas, 3kg heroin, 4kg opium and 17 bottles of tincture.

The SSP had warned the SHOs that strict action would be taken against those officials who were found involved in corruption and would be suspended from service. He further said that those who could not control lawlessness in their respective areas should quit their jobs.
