GUJRANWALA, June 5: The City Tehsil Council will install about half a dozen filtration plants in various parts of the city for providing clean drinking water to citizens.

The tehsil council will also construct residential colonies for its low-paid employees.

This was stated by city Nazim Babu Javed Ahmed while speaking at an oath-taking ceremony of Wasa employees union office bearers here on Wednesday.

He said the provision of the hygienic potable water was his top priority as the citizens were suffering epidemic diseases due to the contaminated water.

Speaking on the occasion, SSP Muhammad Aslam Tarin and Wasa employees union president Wahid Iqbal Butt also offered their cooperation in resolving problems of citizens and employees.

CRUSHED: A passer-by was crushed to death by a speeding coaster on the GT Road here on Wednesday.

Muhammad Bashir of Daska was crossing the road when the coaster knocked him down. He died on the way to the local DHQ Hospital.
