By Our Correspondent

SADIQABAD, June 4: Residents of Basti Haji Ghulam Sarwar near Chachran Sharif have been braving hot weather for the last three days as the electricity transformer developed a fault.

The affected people said on Tuesday that the transformer went out of order during the duststorm and rain which lashed the city on Saturday night.

They said when they contacted Wapda authorities, they demanded Rs8,000 for repairing the transformer.

They demanded of the Wapda chairman to look into the matter and order immediate replacement of the transformer.

WATER SHORTAGE: Hundreds of growers demonstrated against water shortage in front of the offices of the canal sub-division in Malkani and demanded immediate release of water.

Growers from Fetehpur Kamal, Zafarabad, Syedpur, Ghousabad, Malkani and Gulani gathered in front of the offices and demanded immediate release of water in Syedan Minor, Habibi Minor and Chachran Minor to enable them to sow cotton.

They said if their demand was not met, they would go on strike.
