Federal Treasury

Published May 28, 2002

ISLAMABAD, May 27: Federal Treasury has been establised near the Estate Office to facilitate petitioners and lawyers in Islamabad, an official told Dawn here on Monday.

Earlier, the lawyers and petitioners had to buy stamp papers (court fee) from the State Bank of Pakistan, Rawalpindi branch, or Rawalpindi District Treasury.

“A treasury had been established in 1979 near Melody market, but due to certain reasons it could not work,” the official said.

According to the Court Fee Act, the attachment of court fee, which is similar to a stamp paper, is necessary in filing civil suits and property cases in which Rs25,000 and above or property of equivalent worth is involved.
