KARACHI: Polls on basis of separate electorate demanded

KARACHI, May 27: The Jamaat-i-Ahle Sunnat has demanded holding of general elections on the basis of separate electorate and to implement Nizam-i-Mustafa in the country.
Reiterating full support to the armed forces in view of the border skirmishes and Indian threat of war, the party condemned the massacre of Indian Muslims in Gujarat and demanded of New Delhi to immediate stop it and withdraw its army from the borders.
The demands were made in resolutions adopted by the participants of Eid Milad-un-Nabi processions taken out from different parts of the city which converted into a public meeting in Nishtar Park. Prominent Ulema and scholars spoke at the meeting.
By another resolution, the meeting condemned the killing of doctors, lawyers and scholars and, expressing concern over acts of terrorism, robberies and other crimes, it urged the government to restore law and order in Karachi and arrest the killers and give them exemplary punishment.
The meeting condemned the brutalities of the Indian army on Kashmiris, including the murder of Hurriyet leader Abdul Ghani Lone, and called upon the United Nations to stop the massacre of Muslims in occupied Kashmir.
