KARACHI, May 25: Only six events have been drawn up for the Summer Gymkhana Race Meeting, which will be held at the Karachi Racecourse on Sunday.

All the six races will be held over the sprinting distance of five furlongs with the first race beginning at 1-30 p.m.

In the first race of the afternoon with 15 runners in contention, Baby Tabassum should win hands down from Law Of Nature and Lawrence Of Arabia.

Two weeks ago, Law Of Nature, carrying only 8-7 and piloted by riding boy Asif Nazir, beat Baby Tabassum carrying a crushing weight of 9-5 by just 3/4 of a length with Dilshad in the saddle. Black Gift and Royal Springs completed the frame.

On that day, Baby Tabassum carried 12 pounds more, but on Sunday, the bay mare will have a 14-pound handicap advantage over her old rival Law Of Nature now carrying 9-4.

In the second race, One Touch would start as favourites over Always In and Sajan Black. One Touch, a chestnut gelding ridden by Muzaffar Hussain won in a common canter, beating Always In over a month ago.

If all goes well, the thoroughbred bay mare Lover’s Line should triumph in the next event, ahead of two other fine sprinters Great Bakht and Black Champion.

The fourth race of the afternoon has a big field of 18 runners in contention. Of the lot Lucky Three, a three-year-old thoroughbred chestnut filly with Tariq Mehmood in the saddle finished second, behind Strategic in her last outing.

Lucky Three, partnered by Tariq once again, is fancied to win the five furlong sprint.

The bay colt Walking Distance should make amends for his last two disappointing appearances and pick up the spoils in the next race with Lover’s Life pipping Xtasy at the post for the second spot.

The last race on the programme has only six runners in contention. In this race, Baby Face will be going all out to complete a hat trick of victories for her owner Mohammad Rafiq Siddiqui.
