KARACHI: Traffic cops beat up motorcyclist

KARACHI, May 23: In violation of the orders of IGP Sindh, the traffic police continues to harass the vehicle owners particularly motorcycle riders.

The newly introduced “Traffic Violation Ticket” is another tool of harassment being used by the traffic police.

Sohail Nasir, son of a local journalist, was beaten and his motorcycle with registration number RNC-6248 was also seized by the traffic police near Star Gate on Sharea Faisal on Wednesday evening.

According to Sohail, he was issued ticket bearing No. 30 and the book number was 7429. But there was no name or signature of the ticket issuing officer on the ticket.

He was fined under clause No 39 of Traffic Rules which states a fine on un-registered vehicle. But this motorcycle had registration number.

A survey of main thorough-fares of the city showed that the traffic police mainly used to fleece the vehicle owners to achieve their revenue targets.
