KARACHI: Security preparations Reviewed


KARACHI, May 22: The provincial minister for local bodies, housing and town planning, Dewan Yousuf Farooqui, here on Wednesday presided over a high-level meeting to review preparations against any eventuality that may arise from the ongoing tension on the border with India.

All the provincial secretaries and heads of departments, besides officials from railways, KPT, Wapda, KESC, SSGC, Hesco and Civil Aviation Authority attended the meeting.

It decided to upgrade and improve the control room established by the interior ministry in the province where personnel from concerned departments have been included.

The meeting was informed that the control room would monitor the situation in an emergency, and all the DCOs in the province will upgrade control rooms in their districts.

Dewan Farooqui directed all the departments to nominate one of their employees as duty officer for the control room and keep a vigil on their operation so that the enemy can never take advantage of the situation.

Expressing satisfaction over the defence capabilities of the country, he said every citizens had certain responsibilities for the safety and security of the motherland.—PPI
