By Our Reporter

KARACHI, May 18: Seventeen vehicles — eight cars and nine motorcycles — were either hijacked or stolen in the city on Saturday, police sources said.

Three cars were hijacked and five others stolen in different Towns, including Gulshan-i-Iqbal, Saddar, Gulistan-i-Jauhar and PECHS.

Four motorcycles were hijacked and five others stolen in North Nazimabad, Gulberg, North Karachi, Landhi, and other Towns.

ROBBERY: One robbery was committed in the city on Saturday, the police said.

Bandits barged into the house of pop singer Ali Haider in Ferozabad police limits, held the occupants of the house at gunpoint and got away with cash and valuables.

The family said that 4-5 bandits, posing themselves as labourers, entered the house around 10am, held the parents of Ali Haider, driver and a servant hostage at gunpoint. The bandits tied them up, collected 10,000 pounds sterling, more than 300,000 rupees, precious watches, and jewellery and escaped.

They remained in the house for nearly an hour. Haider was not at home when the robbery took place.
