Two lawyers shot dead in Sheikhupura

By Our Correspondent

SHEIKHUPURA, May 17: Two lawyers were shot dead while three guards were injured in Raisanwala village, some 75km away from here, on Friday morning.

Rao Akhtar Ali and Rao Zulfiqar Ali, the two brothers, were sitting at their Dera when three masked assailants appeared and opened indiscriminate fire. Akhtar and Zulfiqar died on the spot, while their three guards sustained critical injuries. The injured were rushed to hospital.

The motive behind the double murder is stated to be an old enmity.

Condemning the incident, lawyers of Sheikhupura, Nankana and Ferozewala have demanded early arrest of the killers.

The Nankana Bar Association president said such incidents had become a routine matter. He urged the Punjab IGP to order the Nankana DSP for early arrest of the killers.

Meanwhile, the District Bar Association, Sheikhupura, has announced that lawyers will observe a strike on Saturday in protest against the gory incident.
