KARACHI: Man commits suicide, three die in accidents

KARACHI, May 17: A young man committed suicide in Mohammadi Colony on Friday.
Police said Islamuddin, aged 30, hanged himself from the ceiling fan in his house. The victim lived alone in the house and the police had to scale the wall and opened the door from inside.
The body was shifted to the Civil Hospital for post-mortem examination. Police could not immediately ascertain the cause of the suicide as the victim had no immediate relations.
ACCIDENTS: Three persons died in separate road accidents in different parts of the city since late Thursday night.
Mohammad Husain, aged 8, was crossing the Fatah Mohammad Shahwani Road, near Gabol Park in Kalakot area, when a speeding coach ran over him.
The victim died on way to the Civil Hospital, police said.
The coach driver escaped leaving the vehicle behind. Police said they have impounded the coach and were looking for its owner.
A cyclist, Mohammad Ramzan, aged 35, was knocked down by a speeding truck near Gujjar Nullah, Nazimabad, late Thursday night.
The injured was rushed to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, where he died during treatment. The truck driver escaped.
In another accident late Thursday night, a young man died in a hit-and-run accident.
Mohammad Yaqoob, aged 28, was crossing the Korangi Road, when he was hit by a minibus. The victim was taken to the JPMC, where he was pronounced dead.
ROBBERIES: One Mohammad Irfan lodged an FIR with the Soldier Bazaar police that four unknown men robbed him of cash (amount unspecified).
In Gulistan-i-Jauhar, Saeedullah lodged an FIR that unknown armed men barged into his house and held the inmates hostage. They looted the valuables and escaped.
CARJACKINGS: At least 24 vehicles — 14 cars and ten motorcycles — were either hijacked or stolen from different parts of the city on Friday, police said.
Seven cars were hijacked and as many were stolen while four motorcycles were hijack-
ed and six were stolen in Gulshan-i-Iqbal, Saddar, Soldier Bazaar, Arambagh, New Karachi, Korangi and other parts of the city.
