KARACHI, May 15: A middle-aged man was shot dead by unknown persons in Soldier Bazar on Wednesday.

Police said that Mohammad Ali, aged 50, was passing through the D’Cruise Road, Soldier Bazar No.3, in his car (ABW-861) along with his wife, when two young men riding a motorcycle intercepted them. They tried to take the purse of Mohammad Ali’s wife. As the couple tried to resist them, they opened fire at Mohammad Ali.

They fled the spot on their motorcycle without facing any resistance from the personal of law enforcement agencies, eyewitnesses said. The victim breathed his last on way to the hospital, police said. The hospital sources said that the victim had received three bullet wounds in his head, chest and shoulder.

Police said that the victim had returned from London about a year ago. He was returning home to Gulshan-i-Iqbal after visiting his daughter in Soldier Bazar. The TPO Jamshad Quarters said that apparently it was a robbery bid as the killers had snatched the purse of the victim’s wife.

The victim owned a medical store in Gulshan-i-Iqbal. Following the postmortem, the body was handed over to the victim’s relatives. Tension prevailed in the area in the wake of the incident. The IG Sindh has ordered the SHO concerned to arrest the killers in 48 hours.

INJURED: Two persons were injured due to a landslide from the Hill Park.

Police said boulders slid from Hill Park and fell on the Hill View Apartments in KMCS. Two persons were injured and were shifted to nearby hospitals. Two motorcycles parked in the area were also damaged.
