LAHORE, May 13: Pakistan’s first choice goalkeeper Muhammad Qasim has been advised by the doctors for three weeks rest.

Qasim, declared the best goalkeeper in the Champions Trophy in Holland, had fractured his right foot during the last national championship.

The pain started again in the on-going camp here. After the medical treatment, the doctors advised Qasim three weeks rest.

The national coach, Tahir Zaman, said that Qasim would be available for European tour as well the Commonwealth Games but would not take part in the trials scheduled to be held on May 17 and 18.

Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) has invited 48 probables for the camp and currently 39 are attending. Atif Bashir, Imran Yousaf, Anis, Asif and Aasim Chohan were on the injury list.

Three others Kashif Jawwad, Sohail Abbas and Waseem are also missing the camp as they are playing league abroad. Sohail and Kashif both are in Malaysia while Waseem is in Germany.

The PHF also sent fax messages to these players Monday advising them to appear in the May 17-18 trials.
