AHMEDABAD, May 10: The government of Gujarat transferred the state’s police chief as fresh sectarian violence left at least five dead and 40 injured in Ahmedabad on Friday.
Three people were killed in police firing in different parts of Ahmedabad city and one person was stabbed and another burned to death.
The Gujarat administration transferred state Police Commissioner P.C. Pande on Thursday night amid criticism of his handling of violence. —AFP
