KARACHI, May 9: Some candidates appearing in the HSC annual examinations have complained that the examination commenced late at a couple of centres in the second shift on Thursday.

Some of the candidates appearing at the Delhi Government College said that the examination at the centre commenced about 50 minutes behind the schedule, but the students were not given additional time. “I could not attempt a couple of question as the examiners did not compensate us for the late commencement of examinations,” said a student, urging the Board of Intermediate Education Karachi to look into the matter.

The college sources said that in some of the rooms examination was delayed due to short supply of question papers. The affected students were allowed additional 40 minutes during the paper.

The candidates who took their examinations at the Govt College for Men, Buffer Zone, claimed that invigilators behaved rudely with the students. During the course of the examination, students were asked to put off their shoes and socks to search cheating materials.

A candidate said that when the students protested, they were threatened that they would be reported against to the Board. According to the students, examinations commenced late at the Buffer zone College.

Reports of late commencement of examinations at the Govt Commerce College in the evening shift were also received. The candidates at the Islamia Arts and Commerce College complained of short supply of supplementary answer-books.

The Board officials concerned said that any major delay in the commencement of the examinations from any centre was not reported on Thursday. They said that the examination at the Commerce College commenced only five minutes behind the schedule.
