ISLAMABAD, May 2: Petroleum and Natural Resources Minister Usman Aminuddin on Thursday ordered stringent measures for stamping out illegal sale and smuggling of petroleum products.

Presiding over a meeting of the chief executives of oil marketing companies, the minister said it was the prime responsibility of the companies to take cognizant steps to check illegal sale of their products and adulterated lubricants. He said those involved in such activities must be brought to book.

The chief executives were advised to come up with remedial measures, action plan and legislation required to implement the companies’ proposed measures at the earliest.

Petroleum and Natural Resources Secretary Abdullah Yusuf, representatives of directorate general, oil, and chief executives of Pakistan State Oil, Shell and Caltex attended the meeting.
