MIRPURKHAS, April 27: Pakistan People’s Party has stressed upon Awam Dost Nazimeen to perform only protocal duties during the referendum campaign.

This was stated by former federal minister and central PPP leader Nawab Mohammad Yousuf Talpur here in his meeting with party workers here on Saturday. He stressed that these would not cross their responsibilities beyond protocol duties, says a Press release.

He said the PPP would have to check its erring Nazimeen and asked them to keep themselves to protocol duties for being administrative head of the districts. He reminded them that it was the PPP’s popularity which got them elected to the representative posts despite heavy odds and the government’s open tilt towards the candidates of its choice.

The former federal minister said that Nazimeen who were acting against the party discipline would be adjudged as self- declared political orphans.

The PPP leader further said that an overwhelming majority of the Nazimeen and councillors elected from the Awam Dost group loved democracy and were ready to offer sacrifices for the restoration of democracy.

He said referendums were not being held anywhere in the world for electing presidents, but in our country bizarre exercises had been staged for attaining power and sending wrong signals to the world about our status of nationhood.

The PPP leader observed that there would be a total boycott of the referendum as only government employees would cast their votes to elect the man holding the fate of their jobs.
