ISLAMABAD, April 26: The two-day training of over 2,200 staff for referendum was completed at the Islamabad Model College for Boys, F-8/4, on Friday.
The polling staff — 90 per cent of them teachers and 10 per cent CDA clerks — will be deputed at 350 polling stations in the federal capital to conduct referendum on April 30.
The government has allocated Rs1.5 million in remuneration for the polling staff, who will be paid Rs650 each as special allowance.
Local traders and welfare organizations running the campaign have offered the district administration to serve meal and tea to the polling staff.
The training camp, established near the District Courts, also houses a control room from where District and Sessions Judge Sheikh Ahmed Farooq in his capacity as assistant returning officer of Islamabad would monitor the polling and issue necessary orders in case of any eventuality.
