All parties moot today

Published April 26, 2002

LAHORE, April 25: The All Parties Conference (APC) called by ARD President Nawabzada Nasrullah Khan is scheduled to be held here on Friday (today), to evolve a joint course of action against the presidential referendum.

Component parties of the Alliance for Restoration of Democracy (ARD)— the Muttehida Majlis-i-Amal (MMA), and Pakistan Oppressed Nations Movement (PONM) — will participate in the moot, which may decide to launch a joint political drive against the military regime.

The APC, being held at the residence of Pakistan Solidarity Front leader Naveed Malik, will be presided over by Mr Nusrullah.

The ARD is scheduled to hold an anti-referendum meeting at the Minar-i-Pakistan the very next day of the conference, although the government is yet to allow the meeting.

The Jamaat-i-Islami is organizing a rally against the referendum the same day (Friday) at Peshawar. The JI and some other components of the MMA have also decided to send their workers to attend the ARD rally because of having similar views on the presidential referendum.
