COLOMBO, April 23: Thousands of anti-LTTE protestors took to streets here on Tuesday in a protest rally organized by the Marxist party, the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP), against the proposed lifting of ban on the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam.<br><br>
The rally was attended by hundreds of Buddhist monks.<br><br>
The government is seriously considering to lift the ban on LTTE as a pre-condition set by LTTE leader Vellupillai Prabhakaran for peace talks in Thailand.<br><br>
Buddhist monks held banners and condemned the ‘peace deal’ that the government plans to strike with the Tigers, calling it an attempt to divide the country.<br><br><br><br><!--AdvStart-->
