Ghazi Barotha row resolved

By Our Staff Reporter

ISLAMABAD, April 14: A high-level meeting here on Sunday resolved all the issues relating to Ghazi Barotha Dam, and decided to complete the project by July 2003.

Sources told Dawn that the meeting decided to resume the plan without delay.

Ambassadors of Germany and Italy, and the secretary of water and power ministry, Wapda chairman, representatives of foreign companies and contractors were present on the occasion.

Multiple problems faced with the scheme had delayed the work on Ghazi Barotha project. But the high-level meeting, convened on the instruction of President Gen Pervez Musharraf, deliberated on the issue and resolved differences, especially, between Wapda officials and foreign companies.

“Now all efforts will be made to complete the work on canal and power house for commissioning $3 billion project in July 2003”, said a source.
