GUJRANWALA, April 10: The traffic police claimed to have issued around 27,654 tickets to vehicle owners and collected Rs4.8 million for violation of traffic rules during March.
Traffic SP told newsmen on Wednesday that 13,541 tickets were issued in Gujranwala, 5,823 in Sialkot, 1,365 in Mandi Bahauddin, 1,375 in Hafizabad and 540 in Narowal.
Speaking on the occasion, traffic DSP Intizar Jaffari pointed out that these challan tickets were issued to 3,218 auto rickshaws, 10 taxies, 3,015 wagons, 209 coaches, 1,426 coasters, 843 mini buses, 247 tractor-trollies, 3,396 motorcycles, 181 cars and 77 other vehicles in the district.
Around 2,721 vehicles were impounded while 42 cases were registered against the crew, he concluded.
FINANCED: The Habib Bank Ltd had financed Rs16 billion for the promotion of SME sector, bank President Dr Mahmood said.
Speaking at the local chamber of commerce and industry here on Wednesday, he said the bank would provide every possible facility for the purpose.
The bank could provide a loan of Rs 20million to industrialists and businessmen on the basis of local management while bank managers could seek the permission from head office for issuing loan in excess of the amount.
He maintained his bank had initiated the facilities of dollar financing which was cheaper as compared to rupee. He assured that reduction in mark up of bank loan would be reviewed in future.
IMMIGRATION: The Pakistani nationals, seeking asylum in foreign countries, should resist washing dirty linen in public, UK immigration and asylum Judge Dr Amir Ali Majid said.
Speaking at a dinner hosted by Gujranwala Tax Bar Association on Wednesday, he said every Pakistani was an ambassador of his country in any part of the world and he should present the best image of the country.
Since immigration laws were hard in the UK, he urged people not to seek asylum there.
