NAUSHAHRO FEROZE, April 3: Malaria and gastro-enteritis are spreading fast in several towns and villages due to the supply of contaminated water.
The people of the villages of Juma Rajput, Mangino Kalhoro, Khunda Khahi, Khuda Bux Wistro, Talib Solangi, Darya Khan Mari, Padidan, Kandiaro and district headquarters of Naushahro Feroze were the worst sufferers.
A man, Younis Rajpar, who had come along with his four children from the Juma Rajpar village, told this correspondent that his children and several other villagers were suffering from malaria.
He said despite many complaints to the health department, it had not carried out any spray to kill mosquitoes.
A man, Ismail Wistro, who belonged to the Khuda Bux Wistro village, said that he was in the town to get medical treatment for his wife and four children.
Ustad Abdul Ghafoor and Juman Shah told this scribe that they, their children and other villagers were suffering from malaria.
A lady Satari, her sister and three children of the village Talib Solangi were suffering from malaria and gastro-enteritis.
They said that they could not sleep in the night due to mosquitoes’ attack. Many people of Kandiaro, Padidan, Darya Khan Mari and surrounding areas were also infected with the same diseases.
Taluka Nazim Riaz Ahmed Goraho, Nazim union council Naushahro Feroze, Pir Kamal and others expressed their concern over the situation and said that there had been no spray in the district for many years.
They added that different towns, villages of the districts had become a breading place for mosquitoes, flies and other insects.
They demanded of the authorities concerned to launch spray campaign to avoid a possible outbreak of epidemics in the district.
