SHEIKHUPURA, April 3: All those who got appointment in the Education department through fake documents would be sacked.

Salaries drawn by such employees would also be recovered besides taking disciplinary action against them.

This was warned by executive district officer (Education) Prof Ghulam Rasool Asad in a press conference.

He said the scrutiny committee in a short span of time had found a female teacher, Fazeelat Tahir, performing duty on fake documents. She was not only sacked but the salaries she had drawn during the tenure of her service were also reimbursed, he said.

The committee had also taken the records of some other suspected teachers into its custody for scrutiny, he said.

Meanwhile, an inquiry into the embezzlement of a huge amount by nine officials and five clerks of the department was already in process.

They were alleged to have misappropriated Rs30 million during the last two political regimes for making bogus appointments. Those found guilty of charges would not be spared, he said.

The EDO said the condition of schools and colleges in the district would also be looked up.

DEATH AWARDED: A local court has handed down death sentence with a fine of Rs100,000 to a convict in a murder case.

He will have to undergo six-month hard jail if he fails to make the payment.

The judge acquitted two co-accused — Ashraf and Amanat — by giving them the benefit of the doubt.

According to the prosecution, convict Irshad had shot dead Ashraf on suspicion in Sharaqpur sometime back.
