KARACHI, April 3: A sanitary worker died of electrocution while on duty in the Saddar area on Wednesday.

Police said that Balkari Lal, aged 60, was cleaning a drain in Saddar.

As he tried to clean his cleaning iron rod by hitting against an electric pole, he got electrocuted.

The victim had just come out from the drain and was wet, police added. His body was sent to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for postmortem examination.

DIES OF BURNS: A young man died of burn injuries at the Civil Hospital on Wednesday.

The hospital sources said that Furqan, aged 23, had suffered serious burns in his house in Korangi last month. The victim was admitted to the Civil Hospital for treatment where he died on Wednesday.

A housewife also died of burns in her house in F.B. Area on Wednesday.

Police said that the victim, Rehana Zubair, aged 50, was working in the kitchen when her cloths caught fire in her house in F.B. Area. The victim was alone in the house and could not be rescued, police added.

The victim was shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where she was pronounced dead by the medicolegal officer. Her body was handed over to her relatives following the autopsy.
