Procurement of wheat begins

SHIKARPUR, April 2: The Government of Sindh has started wheat procurement through the food department in Shikarpur district.

According to target fixed by the government, 2,250 matric tons of wheat will be directly purchased from the growers at the rate of Rs300 per 40 kilograms in the district.

This was informed by the district Nazim, Mohammad Arif khan Mahar, at a meeting of the growers, food officers and other district officers. The meeting had been held to review the progress of wheat procurement in the district.

The meeting was informed that two procurement centres were established at Shikarpur and Madeji town. Bardana (gunny bags) will be provided by food department and the purchasing will be made under the supervision of two committees constituted at the meeting.

ARRESTED: The residents of New Shikarpur foiled an attempt of robbery On Monday.

The robbers entered the house of a man, Mumtaz Sanjrani, situated at the Sanjrani muhalla, on Monday night. The residents resisted the robbers’ bid to rob. One of the robbers, Lal Bux Shaikh was injured, as a result of the resistance while his accomplices fled away.

The injured robber was handed over to new Faujdari police.
