LAHORE, April 1: The Samsung international ladies polo tournament goes into action from April 3 at Lahore Polo club Aibak ground and all the four foreign participants have reached here.

This was stated by Ishaq Khan Khakwani, President of the Lahore Polo Club at a news conference amid the presence of foreign players.

Two players from America, Nicole Marguerite Backus and Paula Beamer one each from Zimbabwe Sherri-Lyn Hensman and England, Lisa Foster will be forming one team to face a strong challenge from the other three participating teams comprising local ladies players.

“It will be a very interesting event and will supplement our efforts for the promotion of polo among ladies,” he said.

Khakwani praised the warm gesture of foreign players for coming to Pakistan and said their presence has proved false all the fears concerning to security of foreign nationals in Pakistan.

“We are glad that best players from aboard are with us and their participation will make the event more competitive and entertaining,” he said.

He said it will be second ladies international event which LPC is organising.

President, LPC said sponsors played a vital role for organising this event and their services for the cause of polo will be remembered.

All the foreign players said they feel happy to be in Pakistan which is known for its warm hospitality, culture and traditions.

“Weather is warm, playing conditions are excellent, we are looking for a great event,” they said.

The tournament will end on April 7.—APP
