RAHIM YAR KHAN, March 27: Two dacoits and a villager were killed while six others sustained serious injuries on Wednesday in a shootout near Zahirpir.

Abdul Majid of Malikpur along with his son Sajjad Ahmad, Shah Nawaz and six others were going to their houses. As they crossed the railway line, they found three suspicious persons. They intercepted them for interrogation, but they opened fire on them, killing Sajjad instantly and wounding seriously Shah Nawaz, Zahur Ahmad, Muhammad Akhtar, Mukhtar, Shaheen and Ghulam Yasin.

Meanwhile, villagers gathered there and chased the fleeing outlaws. Near Basti Noon, the villagers besieged the outlaws and after a brief shootout killed two dacoits while their accomplice managed to escape. Villagers found a Kalashnikov and cartridges beside the bodies of dacoits. The four injured were admitted to Shaikh Zayed Hospital while two others at the THQ Hospital, Khanpur, in serious condition.
