JHANG, March 26: A man whose valuables were stolen by two people is awaiting redressal of his grievances despite the Punjab IGP orders.

Complainant Yousaf met IGP Malik Asif Hayat when he failed to get justice from the city DSP and Jhang SSP.

According to Yousaf, a resident of Shiene Wala locality in the city, accused Shabbir alias Shaboo and Idrees stole Rs70,000 in cash besides other valuables and a colour television from his house about 20 days ago. The thieves were spotted by the watchman who caught them red handed with the help of residents of the locality.

They were handed over to the city police along with the stolen articles. The police did not register a case against them. They kept them in custody for four days and released them after receiving bribe, Yousaf alleged.

Yousaf said when he asked police to return his stolen goods recovered from the possession of the accused, they did not hand them over to him on one pretext or the other.

He said he filed complaints with the city DSP and Jhang SSP but to no avail. He met the IGP who listened to him patiently and ordered the SSP to arrest the accused and return his belongings to him.

But, Yousaf said, no action has so far been taken on the IGP’s orders.
