PPP opposes referendum

DADU, March 23: The president, PPP (Sindh), Nisar Ahmed Khuhro, demanded lifting of ban on political activities to clear the way for free and fair elections in the country.

While addressing a press conference at the PPP district office on Friday, Mr Nisar claimed that PPP Chairperson Benazir Bhutto was not afraid of anything and was ready to face all fake cases registered against her.

He said that President Pervez Musharraf was looking for a pretext to cancel the elections.

He categorically rejected the government’s referendum plan during the coming months to elect Gen Pervez Musharraf as President.—Correspondent
