Bank cashier flees with Rs2 million

By Our Correspondent

JHANG, March 11: The cashier of the Muslim Commercial Bank (MCB), Chak 130-GB Branch, reportedly took away an amount of Rs2 million through a fake receipt from the bank manager.

Reports revealed cashier Intizar Husain Shah visited the MCB Main Branch on Shaheed Road, Jhang Saddar at 9:30am on March 5 and delivered a letter from his branch manager to main branch chief cashier Shabihul Hassan, demanding an amount of Rs2 million to be paid urgently to a party.

The cashier reportedly handed over the cash to accused Husain after obtaining a receipt.

At about 12:30pm, the main branch received a telephone call from zonal office, asking them to send some employee to the Chak 130/GB Branch on relieving duty as cashier Husain was on leave.

Appalled at the call, the main branch manager rang up the Chak 130-GB Branch manager who told him that the cashier was on leave and the letter delivered to him and the receipt were bogus.

The main branch manager got a case registered with the Kotwali police against the accused.

Meanwhile, the father of the accused filed an application with the Jhang SSP that his son was abducted before the commission of the alleged crime.

The SSP marked the investigation to the DSP city circle Jhang.

City Jhang police have started investigation into the alleged abduction of the main accused of the MCB branch.
