KARACHI, March 2: The Pakistan Medical Association has said that it has been directed by a court to prepare the voters’ list following the format of the National Database Registration Authority adding addresses of the voters.
Responding to a PPI story in the March 1 issue of Dawn, the PMA, in a press release, said itsbiennial election had always been held according to the procedures laid down in the constitution.
“For this term as well, the date for election was announced and the voters’ list was announced in time. The objections to the voters’ list were invited and received in accordance with the constitution. The final voters’ list after correction was presented to the PMA executive committee that approved and endorsed it.”
The PMA press release says: “The court has not nullified the voters’ list.
“It is important to note that there is no case against any of the office-bearer of the PMA, Karachi, in any court of law. The unauthentic news-item was released by PPI regarding the court decision which is not released yet and certified copy will be available on March 7.”
