KHAIRPUR, March 1: Mirwah Canal developed a 50-feet wide breach at RD 287 on Thursday night.

The crops standing on hundreds of acres of land and five villages, Tarqo, Nando, Pirzado, Wero Banbhan and Islami, were submerged.

However no irrigation official reached the spot.

The villagers plugged the breach on self-help basis after re- opening the water channels called Sada Rang, Sanisah, Dhedhano, Bilal, Khanwah and Sonwah.

Talking to newsmen, the villagers alleged that the breach was caused due to pressure of water because the irrigation officials had closed the above mentioned waterways to supply water to some influential landlords’ lands situated at the tail of Mirwah Canal.

KILLED: A man, Altaf Hussain Junejo, allegedly opened fire at a pickup and killed Daim Junejo and injured Rahmatullah Mangejo at Luqman railway crossing here on Friday.
