KARACHI: Water shortage in F. B. Area

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, Feb 20: Various parts of Federal B. Area have been experiencing an acute water shortage due to a leakage that had developed in a 24-inch dia federal building main (FDM), passing through the Aisha Manzil roundabout.

Residents of the affected blocks and adjoining localities said water coming out from the leaking pipeline for the last several days was not only causing water shortage but was also damaging a main road.

The localities which have been facing water shortage for the last few days due to wastage of water through the leaking pipeline include blocks 4, 5, 6, 10, 11 and 13.

People residing near Aisha Manzil roundabout regretted that although a substantial quantity of water was being wasted from the leaking pipeline for the last a couple of days, the KWSB staff did not bother to plug the leakage in its initial stage.

Meanwhile, the KWSB sources said work on the leaking pipeline had been started which would be completed in a day or two.

Complaints of an acute water shortage have also been received from residents of Federal B. Area’s blocks 18 and 19.

The residents of the affected blocks said though water supply was still continuing, its pressure was so low that their under- ground tanks were filled only up to one-fourth of its total storage capacity.

Residents of North Karachi’s sectors 5-C/4 also complained of getting scant supply with a low pressure.
