MANSEHRA, Feb 19: The former chief of the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), Gen (retd) Hamid Gul, intends to contest the national assembly election on a JUI ticket from NA-14, Mansehra-1, a JUI spokesman told newsmen here on Tuesday.
The spokesman said although there was no clear-cut signal from the retired general as yet, he might contest the election for NA-14 after he had been assured of his victory by the JUI leadership and some Jihadi outfits having vote bank in some parts of the district.
He said, “After all, Hamid Gul has rendered great sacrifices for the Afghan and Kashmir Jihad” and religious circles here held him in high esteem.
However, the Nazim of the Mansehra district, Mohammad Azam Khan Swati, announced at a press conference last month that an alliance made by the district Nazims of Hazara for the general election had nominated Gen (retd) Salahud Din Tarimzi it’s candidate for NA-14.
