DERA ISMAIL KHAN, Feb 19: A two-member team has been constituted to investigate the death of a drug addict whose body was found in village Divala on Monday. The younger brother of the deceased has accused the Cantonment police of torturing his brother, which led to his death.

According to sources, the body of a young man was found from the fields close to village Divala on Monday. Later, the deceased was identified as Rajab Ali Shah, a notorious drug addict and trafficker of the area.

They said while supplying drug to other addicts, Rajab Ali Shah saw a policeman serving a court summon on some one in the village. He mistook it as a raid and tried to swallow the shopping bag in which he was carrying heroin. The shopper choked his larynx and he died due to suffocation.

Later, someone informed the Cantt police about the body which took it into their custody. The postmortem report also confirmed the cause of death with recovery of pieces of plastic bag along with heroin powder.

However, Aamir Abbas, younger brother of the deceased, through an application, accused the Cantt police of torturing Raja Ali, which led to his death.

SP Dera has ordered a departmental enquiry into the matter and appointed DSP City and Inspector CIA to conduct the enquiry. The SP has also requested the sessions judge Dera to depute a judge to conduct a judicial enquiry into the death of Rajab Ali Shah.
