KARACHI, Feb 10: A largely-attended meeting of the general body of the Pakistan Association for Mental Health was held on Saturday.
It unanimously adopted a resolution to elect Dr A. Q. Khan as Patron and Chancellor for life of the Institute of Behavioral Sciences (IBS). His contribution in its early stages and in donating the main building block was lauded.
Through another resolution, the draft ordinance and rules of business of the IBS were also passed. It was reported that the applications for recognition by the University of Karachi was in advanced stages. The IBS will then offer courses in various disciplines of psychology and psychiatry.
At the expiry of two terms of the current governing body of the IBS, as per the rules of business, a new governing body was nominated.
Representing the judiciary, university, ministry of health, professional organizations and philanthropists, the following seven members of the association were also nominated: Justice Nasir Aslam Zahid, Arif Hasan, Zubeida Mustafa, Sultana Siddiqui, Dr Kaleem Butt, Dr Salamat Kamal and T. A. Khan. The chairman shall be elected by the governing body from among its members.
