NAUSHAHRO FEROZE, Feb 1: The members of Naushahro Feroze district council have demanded the re-opening of closed schools in the district and due share in Khushhal Pakistan Programme-III schemes for the union councils.

They were speaking here the other day in the meeting of the district council which was attended by 64 members out of 74 members.

Nazim, UC Darya Khan Muree, Ali Akbar Khaskheli, pointed out that about ten boys primary schools including those in village Hayat Dakhan, Ghulam Sher, Abdul Qadir Sehar, Ghulam Ali Khaskheli, Murad Khokhar, Jafar Khan, and Wagan had been closed.

He added that there was only one girls primary school in the UC having a population of about 10,000 people.

Several members demanded that effort should be made for the resumption of irrigation water supply as there was no water in the minors and canals of the district and as a result wheat crop was body affected.

The members termed the recovery of usual irrigation water tax from growers illegal and demanded that the water tax should be charged according to percentage of water shortage.

The members complained about the use of inferior quality material in the KPP-III schemes.

The Nazims of the union councils demanded monthly honourarium and daily allowance. They deplored that in the Sindh Local Government Ordinance no monthly payment was fixed for UC Nazims.

The members belonging to PPP backed Awam Dost Penal continued their walkout from the district council session on the third consequent day demanding office and car parking place in the district council building premises for their leader whom they termed opposition leader.
